How do I cap order size, order spam and losses?

Set an order size limit, an order rate limit and a stop on profit and loss in Officer. These can reject orders and stop new ones, but they do not guarantee your final loss.

Category: pre-trade risk control

How Officer handles it

Pit Officer caps one order by quantity, notional amount or both. The rate limit counts all attempts, including rejected ones, in a window of up to 24 hours; retries cannot evade it. Either limit rejects only the order, leaving the account able to trade. The profit and loss stop sets lower and upper bounds on realized P&L in a chosen currency, for all accounts or one. Past a bound, new orders are rejected until the owner unblocks; a missing exchange rate needed to value P&L also blocks the account. A balance caps the agent's budget, and fees reduce it.

Example of a refused order

With a maximum of 3 attempts per minute, the fourth attempt in that minute is rejected, even if the first three were rejected too.

What Officer does not do

The fill that crosses a profit or loss bound remains. Blocking does not cancel orders already at the broker; this is not a daily loss guarantee.

Limits apply only to orders routed through Officer. An agent with its own broker keys can trade outside Officer.
